Contesting Online Survey

Survey Question Current Survey Question

Do you plan to enter the CQ WW DX Contest?

Recent Surveys

Recently the RDXC committee reclassified P3F to high power from low power without publicly providing strong evidence that any infraction had occurred. They concluded was that the contestant was running HP on 80/40m but not full-time, just 10 minutes here and there without any convincing evidence. It appears they used the RBN as their source of information. Should the RXDC contest have to publicly provide convincing evidence before reclassifying a station from LP to HP?

Randy, K5ZD, wrote a sidebar titled " Convergence and Change" in the 2015 CQWW CW printed results in CQ magazine. He wrote that the "convergence of personal computers, Internet access, DX clusters, and CW Skimmer have changed the nature of CW contesting". He goes to say that it is "more difficult to police the line between the single operator working alone and those who are using the assistance of DX spotting." In light of this convergence and change is it time to recombine SO and SOA into a single category?

Best time?
We put August in to see if there would be serious preference. August is not very probable due to resort hosting summer camps (QRL), hot weather and vacation time.

It should be really tossup between September and October. We are leaning towards October, wx is just super, leaves are starting to change color, we might have results/trophies of Tesla Cup Contest and time to get charged up for CQ WW season. So get your antenna work done few days earlier and save some time to relax, meat other "radionuts" and to find out about last minute tips an tricks with enough time to implement them. The second weekend of October seems to be the best, adapting to local resort situation and with possibility of holding Contest University Camp week prior to the Contestvention (or RadioFest?)

Thanks!

WX is a factor
Mid-August on the east coast is miserably hot and muggy. Mid October is too close to Hell Month. Mid-September is just about right.

Need more choices...
I kind of like the idea of a Visalia-East (you won't call it that, huh?!) but think that the later dates are WAY too close to contest season. I know contesters are always doing last-minute antenna work, etc. in the final weeks. I suspect that's why the graph shows a decline as the months approach CQWW.

Good luck.

DX Contestvention or RadioFest date
Fellow Contesters.

We are happy to report that Tesla RC has now a new home at a beautiful mountain resort Verkhovyna in Glen Spey, NY, near Port Jervis, NY and Matamoras, PA, where NY, NJ and PA meet. Situated in recreation area, where Poconos and Catskills meet, near the white water rafting and canoeing center of Delaware River, with private lake, camping, motel, meeting room facilities capable of accommodating from small picnics to ethnic festivals of thousands of people.

We are preparing to host the annual get together, miniconvention style for ham radio competitive types - DXers, Contesters, VHFers, Fox hunters, etc. In order to establish and lock the repetitive date for the event, we are asking for vote on the most convenient date. We are leaning towards middle of September or middle of October and we fill this would be appropriate to fill the hole between the major contests and other conventions (Dayton, Visalia). We are also planning to have Radio Camps for children and adults in the summer at that place .

More details will be available on the upcoming home pages.

Thank you for your suggestions and putting this event on your calendar.
