Contesting Online Survey

Survey Question Current Survey Question

Do you plan to enter the CQ WW DX Contest?

Recent Surveys

Recently the RDXC committee reclassified P3F to high power from low power without publicly providing strong evidence that any infraction had occurred. They concluded was that the contestant was running HP on 80/40m but not full-time, just 10 minutes here and there without any convincing evidence. It appears they used the RBN as their source of information. Should the RXDC contest have to publicly provide convincing evidence before reclassifying a station from LP to HP?

Randy, K5ZD, wrote a sidebar titled " Convergence and Change" in the 2015 CQWW CW printed results in CQ magazine. He wrote that the "convergence of personal computers, Internet access, DX clusters, and CW Skimmer have changed the nature of CW contesting". He goes to say that it is "more difficult to police the line between the single operator working alone and those who are using the assistance of DX spotting." In light of this convergence and change is it time to recombine SO and SOA into a single category?

I had a great time operating QRP as TI5N at TI5KD station. If we want more USA activity, then don't hold it on USA holiday Memorial Day weekend. I never made any QSOs on 160 or 80 and only spent 30 minutes on 40. 20 and 15 were open to Europe almost all night. Phil Krichbaum N0KE

WPX CW & 80m
Someone wrote: "A quick response to the comment about 80M - you have to realize the euro's get 4 pts each for 80M qso's between countries. USA only gets 1 pt for 80M qso's between states. Thus, no 80M activity in USA. "
Of course we can get only 2 pts for country to country qsos and 1pt for own country. On 10m we had UFB EU Es-propagation but we did get only 1pt per qso ...
US activity was so low and EU so high that nowadays USA East Coast station will always beat EU single op and many multi singles as well.

10 M from LU
Propagation on ten was the best ever since I can remember JA coming through all day long. Great Opening to Europe. Not so good to USA. Did the contest with wire antennas, had fan anyway.

de AB2E.
Exciting contest, great format! Perhaps the best challenge to an operator for score strategy.. ..US 2X1 casual operators rapidly disappearing as they are being traded in for vanity calls, making it more difficult to pick up stray mults by calling CQ.

Did a multi-single from HC8N with K6AW. Lots of fun, but definately much
more activity out of Europe than North America.

Just few hours, sunday evening, to test the new antenna system (KT34A up on a 9 meter tower, and windom 10-80) built just in time before the weekend (but the weekend was spent in the country!!) and the emotion of my new contest callsign IR2V. Now I need a real contest radio (used IC706MkII barefoot!) but had some good run anyway!! CU ALL AGN.

Had a good time. The time I spent. Planned on a better effort. But missed Friday night and both morning runs. 15 was still in fair shape dispite the poor wwv numbers. Course 10 meters was a bust from Mn. Worked around 12 hours and managed to get 600+ Q's and 500,000 points. Was nice to work SU9ZZ and a 5W and a few other SE asia but not many Ja's for me.

Objective was to test the Rig connected to the CT and the LPT port to keyer. The CT to the rig worked OK. Big disapponment was with the LPT port to the Radio interface (home built). It did not work due to RF. I'll need to get the optocoupled version.... By the way the NPN transistors offered by Radio shack have a wrong visual aid !! ref. RS 276-1617
