Recently the RDXC committee reclassified P3F to high power from low power without publicly providing strong evidence that any infraction had occurred. They concluded was that the contestant was running HP on 80/40m but not full-time, just 10 minutes here and there without any convincing evidence. It appears they used the RBN as their source of information. Should the RXDC contest have to publicly provide convincing evidence before reclassifying a station from LP to HP?

Randy, K5ZD, wrote a sidebar titled " Convergence and Change" in the 2015 CQWW CW printed results in CQ magazine. He wrote that the "convergence of personal computers, Internet access, DX clusters, and CW Skimmer have changed the nature of CW contesting". He goes to say that it is "more difficult to police the line between the single operator working alone and those who are using the assistance of DX spotting." In light of this convergence and change is it time to recombine SO and SOA into a single category?

Years ago before WARC bands we used to curse the contest weekends .. they were every where.. then before computers we tried it a few times using paper logs .... but would never turn them in ... too much work tabulating the score ... then came the CT contest program..then the packet cluster... all you had to do was point and click on the band map spots ...or run on a frequency .. and to tabulate the score you only had to make a couple of key strokes... now we are using WriteLog .. it prepares your log and summary sheet for submission ..it will even record your whole contest ... log is submitted electronically by email .. you do not even need a stamp ... through contesting we have increased our DXCC totals and it certainly has increased our enjoyment of radio in general ... we get far more out of it now than when we were cursing the contesters on the weekends ...

contest logs

Im in the NONE column. I do participate in at least a half dozen or more tests throughout the year, but dont give any of them the time I used to, and its not worth the effrort to try to put everyting together for a contest log, as all my logging for 35 plus years is on paper. Ive used electronic logs for field day etc. and I am certainly a lot faster with a cw key on one hand and a pencil in the other than I am with the keyboard. ( I typed 70 Plus wpm in school). But am not comfortable with electronic logs, dont trust em. HI. I do get in and try to give out a few points during cw/ssb/rtty tests but with only 100 watts, mostly dipoles and a small th3jr at 28 ft. Its quite frankly not worth the trouble. Even in the low power events, I dont stand a chance with the big antennas out there. Used to send in check logs, but never even got a "thanks" so quit doing that too.
