Timely Posting to 3830

I try to post to 3830 before I get up from the operating chair after a contest. Then, I watch 3830 to see how everyone did and to enjoy the commentaries, some of which are very enlightening and insightful. 3830's value to me decreases as time passes after the end of the contest and my attention shifts to the next contest and other non-contest parts of life. (I think there are some!)

3830 is a great tool - something like a good wine ( after the contest ). You can check quietly wat was happening, read stories. Emotions in play an important role. It is just a part of the game...
We are not all contesting to be placed at the top of the list, but have pleasure and fun at the matter itself.
It is very usiful when stations describe at reflector what equipment/antennas have been used. It motivates in several means: to compare yourself to that of your class; to move you to make something better on your set-up aso.

I always post my score to the 3830 list. In the last couple
of years, there have been a couple of times where I've
posted my score to 3830, but never submitted it to the
contest judges. (oops!)
I also read 3830 -- not so much for the scores, but for
the stories. I've learned a lot about contesting from the
contest stories on 3830.
3830 gives you immediate feedback on how you did --
you don't have to wait 6-12 months for the published
scores to figure that out.

I usually post to 3830 after a contest so I can compare my claimed score to those of my "local" rivals (usally W9RE).
I think it's also interesting to compare notes/soapbox comments with others, ie, how were band conditions, what worked, what didn't.
However, all the "discussion" about posting on 3830, ethics, possible motivations for or against posting is really making me weary. It's a cool tool. I enjoy checking out the claimed scores. even from contests I didn't operate.
Usually after spending much of a weekend operating a test, I've had enough. Don't want to turn the rig on, run the post contest utilities to prep my log for submission, etc. Which is why I usually submit my log at the last minute

3830 gives me an idea how well I did. I handicap the information, realizing that a certain percentage of operators do not post. So far, I have been able to accurately predict my final position. I am not in the least concerned that someone will see that my scores are reduced, they always are. Sometimes just a little, sometimes not, just like everyone else.
