Recently the RDXC committee reclassified P3F to high power from low power without publicly providing strong evidence that any infraction had occurred. They concluded was that the contestant was running HP on 80/40m but not full-time, just 10 minutes here and there without any convincing evidence. It appears they used the RBN as their source of information. Should the RXDC contest have to publicly provide convincing evidence before reclassifying a station from LP to HP?

Randy, K5ZD, wrote a sidebar titled " Convergence and Change" in the 2015 CQWW CW printed results in CQ magazine. He wrote that the "convergence of personal computers, Internet access, DX clusters, and CW Skimmer have changed the nature of CW contesting". He goes to say that it is "more difficult to police the line between the single operator working alone and those who are using the assistance of DX spotting." In light of this convergence and change is it time to recombine SO and SOA into a single category?

The 2006 CQ WPX SSB contest is over and the results for 2005 have not been made public on the Web. When a sponsor does not make the line scores of a contest publicly available on the Web before the next running of the event I feel

CQ Contest Results

CQ is my favorite magazine. (I like it better than QST...but I still support the League.) It is laughable that people spend thousands of dollars on radio equipment and antennas -- sometimes huge investments -- and then grouse about paying a couple bucks for a magazine to see the results. Get some perspective. Support the hobby.

Yes, but it doesn't support any sort of licensing standards. Almost every issue calls for the removal of the CW requirement, and says we need to make the written test easier, because the Technician test is just too difficult. At the same time, they will ususally have an article or picture of some 7 year old who just passed the extra-so how hard can the written test be?

I am probably in a minority here, but I don't want everyone to become a ham. I want the licensing standards maintained (actually increased from what they are now, but that won't happen) so that an amateur radio license actually means something.

I finally cancelled my CQ subscription I was tired of reading these editorals and being called names in them because I didn't want things dumbed down any further. Too bad because overall it is a more interesting magazine than QST.

NO COMPLAINT

I receive the 2004 and 2005 certificates the week previos the contest, the results appears in the magazine as always, there is the reason to promote the magazine , at the moment you can't get all you want just paying the internet bill, maybe need a suscription , ARRL have the members only areas, CQ sell magazines and the Certificates are handled by volunteers not by hired people.

The only consideration is we are talking CQ magazine. CQ is notorious for the games it has played over many many years. The last contest winning certificate I received was ''''3''' years late. Lower all your expectations when it comes to CQ magazine then you will be less upset.

Now talk about taking the words right out of someones mouth.

We are dealing with CQ They can't even get the certificates out on time never mind letting anyone see the results without having to buy their sub par Magazine. I do subcribe but only to get the results.

Maybe they need to work on increasing the quality of the Magazine. Instead on getting revenue by selling the results of the contests.

I had the chance to express this to them at Dayton 2 years ago. I would have better luck and more fun trying to work my way down the Isle infront of the HRO & AES booths.

So you can imagine how that converstion went.

Buying The Magazine

Subscribing and buying is one thing, getting it is something else, as with the awards.
None of the German subscribers has received any CQ magazine of this year

WPX Results

I have been a CQ Magazine subscriber for a very long time and I am happy to see that they list all of the contest participants in their articles. The magazine articles and results for the 2005 WPX Phone and CW contests are also available online at: http://home.woh.rr.com/wpx/results.htm .

I buy CQ Magazine every month. I enjoy it immensely. I got the results when they were published.

Whether or not it is "a good read and supports contesting in general" is immaterial (though true). For some, having to pay for results data is a matter of principle.

ARRL published their 2005 contest results on their website. JARL did the same. In fact, every contest sponsor website I visited a few minutes ago had last year's results up there. ARRL has November Sweepstakes up already.

I don't have to buy QST to get ARRL results well before the next contest. Hell, I don't even have to join the League. Given that, is it any wonder that some people are upset? Even if it's not intentional, CQ is essentially saying, "If you want to look at last year's results, you have to buy CQ."

You must buy it whether you're just curious or using the data as an operating strategy. One can almost hear them snickering on the way to the bank. (And no, I'm not a paranoid conspiracy theorist! :D )

As for me, well, yeah it's annoying to have to buy the bloody thing when every other contest sponsor - including at least one that also sells the results - gives the info away on the Web. But that's capitalism, baby; like it or lump it. :D

I don't see the problem. If you want the results, buy the magazine; support the hobby. By the way, I'm not a CQ subscriber. But, if the results are that important to you, maybe you should be one.

I would like to see the rules containing
some words on observing bandplans on 40 m and a penalty for those who dont give a damn !

Poor Question

Results are out in CQ. Even in the wilds of the antipodes we know that! I think my political brain tells me this is "push polling" leave that to the Repdems!CQ magazine is neither expensive nor difficult to buy even in DX.

Slanted question

This is a bogus question. I've had the results in hand for several months now for each event. The results have been out there "in public" for to those who are CQ subscribers (I am one) or those who may find the magazine on the shelf of a local ham store or news stand.

Small detail the questioner chose to ignore, it seems. I don't think you can equate "made public" with "I want 'em for free."

Buy The Magazine

I received my CQ WW WPX SSB results before the contest by reading the magazine. Stop complaining and buy the magazine. Its a good read and supports contesting in general.
