Agree with WG7X. Contesting is such a sedentary activity, other than hitting the F1 key, it's hard to call it a sport. Stamp collecting involves more physical activity!

<<TG we will NEVER see K1AR on the cover of SI in a swim suit>>

Yeah, but how about on NCJ's cover?!

It's shining, too!

The sun is shinning and it's 78 degrees. Get a life and go outside. Work on an antenna if you have to, but otherwise just go for a walk!

I guess WG7X never drove a car at >180MPH in 120deg temps for 300 to 500 miles. And why does he single out NASCAR? Is Formula racing that much different?

I'd say those guys need to be in EXCELLENT physical and mental shape to compete.

Hell yes!

No, its not a sport!

Sports involve something that requires the particpants to get off of their butts!

Radiosport, like the Europeans do it, is a sport, but please note that they are up and RUNNING to find the fox.

Americans are a funny bunch... Only here could you come up with activities like NASCAR and call that a sport.

If radio contesting is a sport, then so is a chess tournament.

I see where Mr. Anymoose has compared contesting to marathon running. Give me a break! Have any of you fat old men completed a marathon!?! Well I have and I can testify that certainly qualifies as a sport.

Now, don't get me wrong, I really enjoy contesting as an ACTIVITY, but a sport?

Sorry, no.

Gary WG7X

We compete against each other. It is a sport! Just like the Marathon, some compete to win or place well, other are just there to participate or have fun. There is serious competition out there, and there are casual contesterors. Have fun with it. 73, Jim

"How could we possibly make the people on this planet more screwed up?" countered Earth-born First Officer Will Riker. "They think golf is a sport!"

>Sports, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. That said, we will never see K1AR on the cover of SI, now, will we? Which is perhaps a good thing. ;=) <

TG we will NEVER see K1AR on the cover of SI in a swim suit.
