Guy clamps Reply

Hello All;

I have heard that guy wire clamps should be installed on guy wire a certian way.

Does it matter if the saddle holds the free end of the guy wire or the wire under tension between the tower and the anchor/insulator?

Thanks,

Alton, NU8L

Alton,

Yes, it does matter. I'll refer you to the Tower Talk archives "http://lists.contesting.com/_towertalk/200007/msg00644.html".

The short answer is that you want the saddle on the side going to the tower. Clamp capacity is
reduced about 40% by installing it backwards.
