Free-standing tower, alum vs. steel

Hi All,
Seems some folks have rather religious feelings about whether towers should be made from aluminum or steel. What are thoughts here on the reflector with regards to this? Seems to me that they should be more or less equal for a given spec'd wind load, height not withstanding.
