Other then practice, practice, practice, any hints a=on getting better with a bug? I only use it for fills, in a contest, or causual rag chews.

There is no substitute. I fondly recall the day 30 odd years ago that I completed construction of my very first, homebrew, iambic electronic keyer and kissed the bug goodbye. Never looked back. Although if I still had a bug, I'd try to use it in SKN.
