The above is the question. Why do we conrtesr, Is there one underlying reason or many. What keeps us going at it or turns us away from it.

Like in the movie series "Indiana Jones": Indiana's reason for searching for lost artifacts was "for fortune and glory". In our case, I suggest it is only for glory, since there is not much fortune in it. 73

It's fun! The thrill of the chase, and trying to better your score from the last one.

It's fun, and during big contests you can always work some DX you won't hear on the other days.
Contesting is a great way to improve your DXCC standings.
