After many contests, it is traditional to meet on 3830KHz to discuss your contesting prowess (read brag). Who knows when it started. But if you tune into or around 3830 shortly after a big contest, you will hear the big guns struttin' their stuff.

Long before the Internet, 3830kHz was used to gather scores for that "instant gratification". Some claim a midwest contest club organized it...some say the YCCC...I sure don't know. Now that the Internet is all but ubiquitous, the "real" 3830 has dropped off in popularity. Still, the really big stations usually show up to exchange scores.
