Mutiband rig or separates? Reply
by NT9E on October 15, 2002 Mail this to a friend!
I am going to enter the VHF/UHF contesting game and am wondering for single op contesting and future roverng should I get a multiband rig like an IC-910H or separates like an IC-275H/IC-475H?

Separate rigs were the result of expensive VHF technology of the past. You might also consider TS-2000 which covers HF-1,2 GHz, IC-706 up to 432 MHz...

A fact I forgot to include in my original post is that I already have an HF-6m rig(756PROII), so I really don't need another HF rig or do I?

I don't think you could get a better 6 meter rig than the proII. The proII also has a transverter port so you could also use it drive transverters. For the price vs performance transverters are great on 144 + 432, they are the easiest way to get on 222.

DownEast Microwave makes the best lower priced units.

SSB Electronics sells the next level up in performance from DownEast but they are also much more expensive.
