FT990 as a contest radio Reply

I can get an FT990 with all CW and SSB filters for a reasonable price.
Any opinions on it as a contest radio?

Just for the fun of it, why don't you download a few ARRL lab reports from the ARRL web site. Check out the performance of the 990 receiver vs some of the others of it's day.

IC765, Omni5, FT1000D and others that might be available in a similar price range today.

I was not impressed with the receiver when I had one in my shack for a time.

Good luck.
