Hello !! New at contesting. Heard today on 20 m. an operator keep asking the other contacts for their
( contest # ) What is this and how do I figure out mine ?? Also, how do I find the current contests on this site by date or otherwise and the rules.

Thanks, Terry

He was probably asking for a contact serial number. Many contests require a serial number exchange for each QSO, i.e., your first contest QSO would be S/N 001, the next 002, and so on. Each contest is different so you really need to know the rules of each particular contest to know what the other stations are looking for.
