Comments

This was a great contest! SS CW has always been one of my favorites. There was lots of activity and with lots of good operators.

I sure wish some folks would learn what CK? or PREC? Some would send anything but what I was looking for. :-)

Conditions I thought were great. 40m was the big band followed by 20 and 80m. 15m was in good shape but I didn't spend much time there as I knew that I would get broader geographic coverage on 20 or 40m.

Was surprised when I was called by KL7HKX at 0523z on 80m.

When the rate slowed a bit on 20m I decided to S&P and quickly found Jack, KH6/W1WEF at 1923z. Soon I found KP4TK CQing on 15m on the second radio (1934z). I dropped down to 40m and VE2ZP called me at 2001z (giving me #4 Q). Later I was on 20m and could hear a racket just below my CQing frequency. I tuned down to check it out and found a monstrous pileup on N7NG (WY). He was booming in at 30/9. I called a couple of times and no luck. Someone said "up". I listened up and Vic, K9UIY, was working him. Dumped it in and got the sweep.

I used 2 radios and had one radio in each ear. I never get headaches but I sure got a bad one on Sunday and I'm sure it's due to having one radio in each ear. Will have to come up with a better switching system that will have one radio at a time in both ears. Anyone have a good switching system they would like to share with me?

After operating CQ WW SSB ( I hate SSB but I love contesting ), I was really psyched for a good CW contest and this was it. I really pushed and it paid off. This is the best score for me in SS CW.

Was nice to see all the guys who have been operating this contest for a real long time. This is the only contest I wish we could all use our old 1X3 callsigns. It brings back a lot of memories when I hear K0VBU, K0LUZ, K7DBV, K9UIY, W5MYA, etc., etc.

Congrats to WD0T (at W0SD) and KR0Y on the great scores. Thanks to all for the Q's.

73, Jeff Bouvier (ex-K1LPA, had to put that in some of the old timers were trying to remember)
