I had great fun in the PSK DeathMatch! I think they call it a DeathMatch because it's a 48 hour contest.
It is held only once a year...great fun! And yes..this is a hobby.

More participants than ever this year and there seemed to be a lot of new recruits into the contest as well. The RTTY activity Friday night made it tough to squeeze in on 80 but there were a few takers. Had to work the contest around a Christmas party on Saturday. This is a tough time of year for a 48 hr contest but we all know radio takes priority :)

It was great to see so many people on the waterfall. We will award the traditional DeathMatch Sword this year and Daggers to the other class winners in 2006.These awards cost us much more than paper certificates but then again, this is a DeathMatch!

DX contacts included Canada, France, Panama, Finland and Pueto Rico. First time I entered the contacts and vow to return as I had a good time even though I was a bit under the weather. Next time I'll try the QRP class. Hope I figured the points correctly.

I received the 2005 DeathMatch sword earlier this week and the guys at the MDXA do their awards right. It is a real sword, stainless steel, heavy, sharp, the whole works. The quality of the sword far exceeds my expectations of a radio contest award. The only downfall, the sword is so nice I feel compelled to buy a stand for it so it can take its proper place here in the shack. Now I am really looking forward to defending the sword in 2006 and trying to bring another one home under my new callsign.

Peace and 73
