CW NA Sprint Date Change Notice

Thanks to a diving catch by the NCJ publishing team, we were able make a last minute change to the CW Sprint date in February. The "formula" for coming up with the date placed it on Feb 15 UTC, which is Valentines Day in local time.

It was quickly determined that the weekend of January 31/Feb 1 would be a better time for the contest. Therefore, the "new formula" for the CW Sprint date in February contains an exception for when the contest falls on Valentines Day, where it will jump up two weeks (before the phone Sprint). This still avoids any conflict with the FOC marathon.

You will probably see some references to the Feb 14/15th date in some magazines that went to press before this change. We did get it fixed for the next NCJ. I wanted to make this post in case you were putting down on the kitchen calendar based upon the assumption that it was the second full weekend. Note that the 16th is president's day, so this might be a rare opportunity to take a 3 day holiday without missing the CW Sprint.

Remember, the log submission deadline is again 7 days after the contest, which means the results will be posted on the NCJ web page during the week of February 9th. Doing the results twice is not possible, so if your log isn't here in time, it won't make the score listings. We actually had a record number of logs received for September, even with the shorter deadline.

Remember, you can use the web based log entry form to generate your log after the contest if you use paper logs. This form can be found at http://www.ncjweb.com/manualsprintlog.php.

The results from the September CW Sprint will be in the January/Feb issue of the NCJ. Included in the results is a special feature by Rusty Epps, W6OAT, documenting the history around the creation of this unique contest. Don't miss it.

Hmmmm. Are you sure this is not just some sneaky tactic to help certain individuals win? Reminds me of unannounced midnight roll-calls in Congress. [All very TIC]
