Once Again a team from Cockenzie and Port Seton Amateur Radio Club (CPSARC) will operate from the Isle of Tiree (IOTA EU_008, IOSA NH04, WAB NM04) during the RSGB's Islands on the Air Contest which from 12:00 UTC 27th July to 12:00 UTC 28th July 2002.
During the contest we will operate using the clubs special contest callsign GM2T.
Tiree is the most westerly of Scotland's Inner Hebridean Islands, a beautiful location some 10 miles long and 3 miles wide, skirted by the Hebridean Sea to the south and east with the Atlantic Ocean to the North and West.
This years stations will consist of :-
Radios' - Yaesu FT 1000 MP, Yaesu FT 920
Amplifiers - Alpha 87a, Yaesu FL 2100Z
2x Cushcraft A3S on 60 ft towers
2x club constructed 40m Verticals
2x club constructed 80m Wire Dipoles
Both Stations benefit from Dunestar 600 automatic bandpass filters and top ten antenna switches. We run a network of PC's to control the radios', voice recorders, keyers and band decoders and run our logging software.
We will also be connected to the DX Cluster via the internet and a laptop running WINTELNETX.
This years team will consist of Cambell MM0DXC, John MM0JXI, Bob GM4UYZ, Robert MM0ANT, Ron GM4IKU, Robert MM3BJO, Keith GM0FZM, Brian M0RNR, Landles GM4XZZ and Ian MM3IDM.
Ably assisted by our good friend and Islander Elaine Williams who allows us to run riot over her beautiful Omer Cottage once a year and without whom none of this would be possible.
Thanks to those of you who worked us last year and whether you are looking to work the contest or not this year, please drop in and give us a call. We really do appreciate your points and your patience.
