Thanks Gary,

Thanks for ur help. This is more complicated than I thought.
I did as you suggested. My VERSION comes up as Saudi Arabia in the logger.
So I closed WriteLog, went to Convert CTY to WriteLog. In the window I first
clicked on Download CTY.DAT. Once I got download complete I clicked on
Convert CTY to WL. All seemed to work FB.
But when I opened WL again and typed in VERSION again it showed Saudi
Arabia.

HOWEVER

I read what you told Chuck, W5PR. I opened C:\ProgramData\WriteLog and found
the cty.dat file and found VERSION to be Samoa, 5W, as it should be. So why
does it show Saudi Arabia when I type VERSION into the call box in the
logging program?

I am confused. If I have the correct CTY.DAT file in the
C:\ProgramData\WriteLog folder then why when I typed VERSION into the logger
it shows Saudi Arabia?

Just not my day! The latest SCP files are dated Oct. 3, 2015, not Oct.
10th.

Argh, hit the wrong button and Send instead of Paste!

Alan,

Two ways to check for the latest version of wl_cty.dat. One, start WriteLog
and in the CALL field enter VERSION and hit Space. The result should be 5W,
Samoa. Second, without starting WriteLog, go to C:\ProgramData\WriteLog and
find the wl_cty.dat file. Open it with a text editor such as Notepad and
find VERSION. Result should also be 5W, Samoa. If you have a different
VERSION go to Start/All Programs/WriteLog V11 run the "Convert CTY to
WriteLog" utility to get the latest version.

For the MASTER.DTA files go to http://www.supercheckpartial.com/ and
download the latest files dated Oct.10, 2015.

I posted this last week but no response as yet. I would like to know if my
CTY and MASTER files are up to date before the start of the CQWWDX this
weekend.

Subject: [WriteLog] Web Update Data Files

I just upgraded from 11.27 to 11.30. I am setting up for next weekends
CQWWDX SSB.

I have never understood how the WEB UPDATE DATA FILES function works.

After setting up WL for the CQWWDX SSB I went to FILE: WEB UPDATE DATE
FILES. The update window opens. I click on DOWNLOAD and the file window is
populated. I leave all the files highlighted. I click OK and WL opens and
closes. This makes me feel that all my CTY and MASTER files are now current
and up to date.

But when I go to C:\ProgramData\WriteLog there are no CTY files there. There
is another zip file folder WlWebUpdate but it is dated 12/12/2014. I assume?
I am supposed to click on this folder to open it then click on EXTRACT to
open these files. When I do that all the CTY and MASTER files are dated in
2014. Does WL go to the data in C:\ProgramData\WriteLog\ WlWebUpdate to find
the CTY and MASTER files? If I just did the download why are the files dated
in 2014?

I remember years ago you used to have to use Jim, AD1C CTY files and
download them to WL but I had thought the WEB UPDATE DATA FILES function did
this all automatically. The help files do not explain how all this works.

Can anyone enlighten me please.

TIA & 73
Alan, K7ACZ
