This is the reason that I bought the MircroHam Keyer.  Works with USB since
I don't have serial ports on my new computer.  I works nice and sends CW
from the key the same speed that the computer sends it.

and it is why WinKey was invented

serial port keyin even via a USB port is unreliable when a machine gets
tasked with other chores

shut off all other applications and use log tools with bare minimum
resources used
