First try just shorting the line into the FSK to see that you actually have
the radio set up to accept FSK switching at that point, if that works, then
put a voltmeter on the same point and note the voltage.  Then plug in the
transistor circuit and see if it changes, perhaps the transistor is shorted,
if not, then send some FSK and see if the average voltage drops (here you
really need a scope to see the actual waveform).  Hopefully by the time you
get to this point you will have it working.  You can also look at the input
to the transistor (again a scope would help a lot), you might be able to
determine there is some activity using a voltmeter.

I decided to get the ol' solder iron out and build up a quick circuit to use
FSK with my 756pro.  When the rig is keyed I only get a solid carrier, no
tones.  Now the the circuit is simple and I have tripple checked my work.
I'm using a 2n2222 transistor and a 1K ohm resistor.

Is the 2n2222 enough to drive the rig?
