Setting up a fully functional remote site has been a dream of mine. With
the demise of Kachina this is not going to be easy. I do hope that Ten Tec
will put sufficient computer control capability their new design to permit
this.
I am a very disappointed ICOM 756 PRo II owner, while radio itself is good,
although not as good as my 15 year old ICOM 781, I was surprised to discover
that although you can read and set just about everything in the radio
remotely, there is no capability to read if the radio is in split and/or
dual watch. That capability was present in the old 781. Its a capability
that is needed even in local one radio mode.
It's my impression that the current manufacturers have not grasped the
significance of allowing full computer control. I hope Ten Tec does
understand.
