The 230,400 in the original paragraph does not mean 230 or 400 bps, it means a maximum of more than 230 thousand bps. You won't need the 230k speeds for TRLog.

A local ham suggested I look into one of these USB widgets to try and get two serial ports on my notebook (all PCMCIA sources checked could not assure me they would work on my WIN98SE notebook):

It appears the transer rate maximum is 400bps, and I'm suspicious that this may not be fast enough.
