A couple of years ago one early Monday morning I took my Huskie for a walk down my 1/4 mile driveway and when I got out to the county road I noticed three wires about 2 ft long sticking out from the power pole across from my driveway. I was looking at them and scratching my head as I have never seen them before.... That's when I realized there was no bottom power line going North, going South or back up the driveway.... someone during the night had cut about a mile's worth of lower power line. I called my Power Company and they said they were having problems all over the County.  About 3 weeks later they caught them.... had their own bucket truck... cutting down the bottom ground line and selling it over in GA somewhere. oh well takes all kinds! lol 73's Cort K4WI

I completely repiped a rental house with PEX and it is freeze proof, at
least with temps we get in the Midwest.

Despite the advertising that it is “better”, I believe this is the reason
we are seeing PEX used for plumbing.

There was a big problem in 2011 when Copper futures first approached $5
/ lb and retail prices approached $10/ lb. Thefts of copper plumbing from
commercial buildings and vacant apartment buildings all over the US became
rampant. In other countries it was far worse.
In early 2022, widespread theft of Copper became commonplace again as
Copper futures spiked to $4.68 / lb.

It is predicted that copper shortages will develop and become more
frequent in the future as worldwide demand grows and the approval of and
supply from new mines continues to lag increases in demand. You can
imagine what might happen to Copper prices in the future and the resultant
increase in theft.

We had an incident in Honolulu where someone tried to steal LIVE
high-voltage wiring; the guy ended up being a charred pile of ash.
Bummer
for him.
