Does this have anything to do with the Cation Exchange Capacity, CEC? This is a
soil’s ability to hold nutrients in place until they can be used by the
microbes.
The Higher the CEC, the higher the number.
Sand is extremely low, but Montmomorillnite
Clay can be quite high.
