Here is one way, there are probably others.

1. The turnbuckle is opened up all the way. The free end of the guy wire is 
passed through the eye of the turnbuckle but not connected.

2. The tension gauge is connected to the guy wire above the turnbuckle with a 
length of similar cable and wire rope clips or other fastening device.

3. A come-along is connected to the lower, free end of the gauge and to the guy 
anchor.

4. The come-along is operated until the gauge reads the desired tension.

5. The free end of the guy wire is now terminated on the turnbuckle, either 
with a thimble and clips or a "big grip".

6. The turnbuckle is ... turned ... until the gauge reads zero.

7. The gauge and come-along are disconnected.
