Pete,

When faced with the problem of getting enough turns through a core, I often use
RG303 (equiv. Belden #84303). It's O.D. is 0.17-inch and its materials
composition is in the same class as RG142. RG303 is used in several Alpha
amplifier models. You'll also see it used in several models from Balun Design.

John and others - I recently bought 10 feet of what is sold as surplus RG-400.
At least it has silver-plated shield and center conductors, though no printed
markings. My plan was to wind a common mode choke for my 160-meter Inverted L.
I was using a #31 big snap-on, and found it impossible, because of the
stiffness of the coax, to get more than about
8 turns on the core, and they wouldn't lie down at all. The jumper I have is
extremely flexible, and would be a cinch for the job.
