What actual effect would this higher resistivity have on a dipole?

SS would probably have a noticeable effect.
Tungsten is 3 times the resistivity of copper, and results in about a 5% loss in a 7MHz dipole.
(3.5 ohms out of 72 ohm feedpoint impedance)
SS would be more like 50-100 ohms of loss resistance - 3dB hit?

Your ideal would be something like flexible copper plated steel. Copperweld, but stranded and flexible, not that "next best thing to piano wire" that copper clad steel is.

Of course, if you were stranded in the wilderness and needed thin hard wire to make animal snares, then you could repurpose your copperweld appropriately.

What about something other than copper? Stainless steel unfortunately has
a high resistivity (69 vs 1.68 microohm-cm for copper)
