Some of us have no recourse but to use tri-banders.  I did have a stack of
KLM
beams (6 el 10, 5 el 15, 5 el 20) that was replaced by the KT34XA in 1981.
For the
peace of mind I can't tell too much difference except on 15 where the
compromises of the XA kick in.

As to which tri-bander I tend to believe what Swan used to run in their ads
for the old Swan Hornet beams.
Putting a 2el at 70' is better than a 4 el at 30' most of the time.   I have
a TH3SR and its close to the XA on 10 first hop
(HP or YV) from here.   I can't speak for the C3 versus the TA-33 but I did
use the TA-36 for a while and it was gang busters on 10
but much poorer than a nearby TH6DX on 15 and 20 at the same height and
power levels.
