This morning I thought I would give it one more try. After trying the
phone lst week, with no success I tried the Amateur Tech Support line at
Cushcraft and got an answer on the first ring. I discussed the problem
with a gentleman named Lee. He made a couple of suggestions. Mainly to
lengthen the entire antenna.

I went up on the roof, when the local temp dropped to about 90, took the
antenna down. I lengthened the tubing sections below the 10 meter trap,
below the 15 meter trap and a bunch below the 20 meter trap. I mean a
bunch more than what is called out in the factory dimensions.

The 2:1 SWR points that I wanted to see were achieved. I am once again a
happy O.F., or as my xyl says a great O.F.

It doesn't pay to be to stick in the mud. HI!

I was just about finished with the Cushcraft tech support after a few
emails back and forth. I admit I sent them info that was not always
pertinent to the problem at hand, but the email saga was really getting
me stressed. Using the phone was a much better experience.

As an aside, I used an MFJ 259B and it is just the ticket. It ain't as
sweet as the old H-P set up we used in the old radio shop, but I could
not carry that stuff up a ladder either! I sure didn't want to be
climbing up and down ladders to key the tx, etc., in the heat we are
having here in the San Diego area.
