Yes, that's a good way to go.

I'm using the RS232 port for both the Remote Encoder and CAT connection to
computer.  I used a Y splitter on the DB25 but I just had to make sure that
pins 6 and 8 from the Omni serial port were not connected to the computer
because they carry the encoder signals.  Carl echoed this info in his
response to my original post.  Anyway, I have it working fine now and used
it all weekend in the Sweepstakes Phone contest.
