Yes, it will improve transmit fidelity.

How much it improves receive fidelity depends on which rig.  The Omni 6/6+
dsp rolls off the low freqs below 260hz on receive, so it's not a dramatic
improvement - you lose about 200hz of the potential 400hz bandwidth
extension (compared to 2400hz filter) in the Omni 6/6+.

I would not install the 2800hz filter unless you were confident in doing an
accurate BFO oscillator and carrier null alignment after installing.
