I didn't say it was bad, I just said "interesting".
Never tried it.  I wonder if it is possible to accidently slightly plug it
in backwards, just far enough to make a brief contact?

Rick,
The "KDK FM-2033" VHF 2 meter rig had/has the same connector for a power
cord.  It actually worked rather well.  Good size pins and threaded locking
ring to prevent the power cord from disconnecting it self.
