A couple things to consider when using the Corsair / Corsair II as a
reference... they were the last PTO radios made by TenTec as well as there
are no DSP or other digital circuits in the signal path. The digital display
uses a frequency counter. In a pile-up or in the clear the received audio
never has any artifacts or phase noise. When used with a matching VFO,
Corsairs can dual receive which is great in a pile-up and especially if you
use QSK on CW. No TT radios since except the Orions have had the dual RX
capability.

The Corsairs may not be near the top of the Sherwood list or work that great
as a contest, but they still are great radios for working DX and for the
price a fantastic buy.

Yeah, really! here is more to life than 2kc Dynamic Range!!

What about the "Sweetness Factor"?...we KNOW the Corsairs and Omni V are
SWEET rigs! I'd hesitate to give either one up for anything not yet
known to me.

I can't imagine any receiver totally blowing away my Omni V except maybe
in the worst 5% of crowded and loud situations. Above that, it is an old
favorite that is a joy to operate! No number captures that quality.

Most of the radios I have had in the top 15 or 20 on Sherwood's list
have been really decent performers, but that list will never capture the
subjective appeal of one over another. I think that is what the
questions about comparisons are getting at.

Close-in blocking performance is only part of the puzzle, and a small
one at that for 95% of operating.
