Is there a switch on the back to select receiver on the transmit antenna
or separate? In some Tentecs that switch has caused exactly your
symptoms. Contacts need cleaning. A part drop of DeoxIT helps, as does
vigorous operation.

Otherwise connectors carrying RF or control DC are suspect as well as
board solder connections (and board grounds through mounting screws).
1N4007 are too expensive (NOT!!!) to replace as a test. Maybe a nickel
each. Maybe less in sacks of 100. Might even be at your local Radio
Shack at a quarter each.
