Question 1 Yes it is normal
I think there is some delay in the ALC circuit
Question 2 There is no RF stage, but there is plenty of gain.

I have a couple of questions about my Argo V.
1. In the cw mode the alc is on constantly when transmitting, is this
normal? My Omni 6+ and Pegasus flash with the keyer rythm.
2. I have to open up the AF gain a minimum of 25 % to hear anything.
(Attenuator is off)
