Hi All

The thread on the new Orion has been very interesting and I have enjoyed
reading all of the posting, however, now I must say how I feel about the
Orion and Ten-Tec. Lets start with Randy---

>>>>What a disappointment to see TenTec using the same el'cheapo fasteners
that they used on the Jupiter.

I have an old Omni C, a five year old Omni VI Plus and an 18 month old
Pegasus. I have in the past had a Triton IV Digital for five years and the
great Argo 556 for about four years. On all these radios I never striped
one of the fasteners. All are the same as the Jupiter. The point here is
DON'T OVER TIGHTEN the screw and all will be well.

The Orion does not need a inboard tuner, at least not here. I have room in
my operating position for four transceivers, the Omni VI Plus and its
Centaur Amp, the Omni C, and the Pegasus with its ALS-600 amp. The forth
position is for the 516 QRP rig when it is ready this spring. All four
positions use one power supply and MFJ 1118 power strip, one power meter,
the Autek WM-1, one antenna tuner, the Ten-Tec 238A. Switching is done with
the Alpha-Delta 4C coax switch. All this goes to three GAP verticals
switched by the 238A. Most of the time the 238A is in the by-pass position.

Why should I buy four power supplies and four antenna tuners when I can and
do use one each?

My wife, Linda told me to buy the Orion if I want it ( Some on the reflector
have met Linda). I will have the Orion, I don't know when just yet. I have
to sell something or maybe my Son will upgrade to General or Extra and in
that case he will take his pick and then the Orion will be here.

Just my thoughts on the Orion, but please keep the comments coming, they are
interesting.
