Our club's main HF setup for field day was a little teeny Kenmore TS? 50
mobile rig. I was less than thrilled. It has buttons and knobs so tiny as
to be almost unusable by those of us with human sized fingers. The
bandwidth was wide enough to drive a motorhome through, and in normal
operation nearly everyone accidentally bumped buttons on the mic and got
into setup menus that were undecipherable without the manual.

That rig apparantly would be fine for mobile use where it is merely a HAM
CB, but if you have to change anything after you do your initial setup,
such as use a different filter or change the power level, it cannot be done
intuitively. Would you believe that the mic gain control is accessible
only by removing the covers?!

I gave up and brought my Delta II over to the site and was happy as a clam!

I now have a whole new level of appreciation and respect for my Delta II,
Triton IV and Omni B!

An infinite number of rednecks
in an infinite number of pickup trucks
firing an infinite number of shotguns
at an infinite number of road signs
would eventually produce all of Shakespeare's plays
in Braille.
