Not quite directly relevant, but I just had to replace a Netgear GS-308
UNmanaged switch with a GS-108 unmanaged switch, using the supplied
wall-wart. No discernible noise from it - now if my power company could
just fix the intermittent S8 power pole noise! I'm not clear what the
managed switch gets you.

I am planning on buying 1 and feeding it from a 12 volt linear supply
instead of the wall wart. I am suspecting there is still a SMP
inside the switch but I am hoping I am wrong.
I'm not using one, and know nothing specific about it, but if it runs
on a 12VDC wart, that's the PSU unless there's an internal voltage
regulator. Now, the unit could still be generating RFI, not from an
internal PSU.
