Hank,

I have had nary a problem replacing mine with L.E.D. tubes that work
from 120 Volts. I have been using tubes from 'batteries plus bulbs'. You do
have to remove/bypass the ballast.

I have no interest in the company other than being a customer, and your
mileage may vary.

I have 4 two tube 50+ year old T12-30 36 inch fixtures that have the old
magnetic ballasts - one has a failed ballast and looking for magnetic
replacement ballasts looks like they are close to non- obtainium. There are
plenty of "electronic" replacement ballasts -

Philips Advance Ballast RELB-2S40-N
3.6 Ballast shall comply with the requirements of the Federa l Communications
Commission (FCC) rules and regulations, Title 47 CFR part 18, Consumer (Class
B) for EMI/RFI (conducted and radiated)
2.5 Ballast shall be high frequency electronic type and op erate lamps at a
frequency above 42 kHz to avoid interference w ith infrared devices and
eliminate visible flicker.

I read the paper by W1MG on Home Depot selling "industrial " ballasts vs
"residential" but nowhere does it say a "residential" ballast is in fact RF
quiet in our uses.

Anyone know if if this Phillips RELB-2S40N is quiet . Are there any brands/part
numbers of "electronic" ballasts known to be RF quiet ?
