I guess I should have clarified that as "coax" as you wouldn't want to go
taking an antenna down for no good reason.

Is the noise you hear like a frying sound, or static, or??? If you can take
the coax off and it improves, to me, that means your problem is outside, like a
problem with the electrical service, not anything inside. I've had 4 major
noise problems where I live at now in the last 6 or 7 years. Each has turned
out to be some piece of hardware on the utility pole gone bad, like an arcing
lightning arrestor, etc. Never say never as I guess it could be from something
inside, but it sounds more like the utility company has some problem(s).

When I remove the coax from the radio it is fantastic, 0 S-units as of
yesterday. I have not removed just the antenna and leave the coax attached
yet.
