An interesting account I once read had to do with crosstalk in a
multi-transmitter site. It seems the managers were resigned to replacing
all the coax running out of the building and up the tower when someone
noticed the crosstalk was greatly decreased after the coax had been handled
during the tests. Just that motion had been enough to break through
oxidation on the braided shields' conductors, and restore the shielding
effectiveness needed.
