Yes, but....

The casual contester should not have to to re-wire the station or re-program
the radio just to make a few contest QSOs.

The ideal ("traditional") scenario:

- external keyer with paddles
- keyer output in parallel with LPT interface from CT
- going into CW key (not paddle) input of radio

However, many people want to use the internal keyer in the radio instead of an
external one.  This causes problems with some TenTec and Yaesu radios because
the same jack on the radio is used for either a straight key or paddles, but
not both.  So you can not connect both CT and a set of paddles to the radio.

My ICOM 756 does not have this problem, there is a paddle input jack on the
front panel, and a straight key jack on the back.

p.s. I wish CTWIN would support COM port keying (everyone else does).  I also
wish CT would support the K1EL keyer (and variations like microHam keyer).
