Jeez ! I'm now regretting even bringing up this subject. It's mind boggling to
me some of the ridiculous comments some have made. I mean come on... saying
things like SO3R and what kind of radio you're using would determine
categories. Really? Is it too much to ask to have an overlay or separate
category for those who don't want to do SO2R or 2BSIQ ( or SO#R since someone
brought it up) because #1 they don't have the resources or #2 they just don't
want to do it in the first place? For those of you complaining about more
categories why didn't you all complain about there being classes that have been
added for SOA, SOLP and SOQRP, Classic etc... BTW I can tell you from 45 years
of contesting experience having all the toys to have a loud signal will trump
skill everytime.Seems like the consensus for many of you is to just have
everyone thrown into one single-op category bucket and then use the excuse that
you're not a real contester because don't have the technology, aren't up to
speed, behind the times and because of that your opinion doesn't mean anything.
I can tell you that a very small majority of contesters do SO2R and a much
smaller percentage do 2BSIQ. Unfortunately a small elite group tells us what
they want the rules to be and they know what's best for everyone. If you
question them they ostracize you.Sometimes I wonder why I even bother
contesting anymore.JeffSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

[CQ-Contest] What's your Opinion on 2BSIQ ? Jeff, (and anyone in favour of
making SO2R a separate category) So you fellas/gals would have us create
another category based almostentirely on operating SKILL rather than number of
people, amount of poweryou're running or amount of outside assistance received?
Does that seem reasonable? Skill.  That's pretty much all SO2R/SO2V/2BSIQis.
Skill.  A learned and practiced activity. You have more of it -you'veworked for
it.. I can't get there for some reasons, so..I want to pull youback to my
level?  Skill. One signal gets transmitted at a time.  One op inthe shack.  A
few extra boxes for switching (none of which are smart oroffer assistance) and
you have an SO2R station. I do it with low budget rigs, a single SO2R
controller I built from a kit,no towers, no stubs or any bandpass filters.
Because you fellas/gals are unwilling or unable to develop great (or maybeany)
So2V/SO2R (or 2BSIQ) skills, your scores may be less and apparently yousomehow
feel slighted or cheated by those who wish to devote a great deal oftime &
energy to developing those skills and wish to pull those elite downto your
level.  I don't get it. That doesn't seem logical to me. (I'd rather see
different categories based on antenna size, where most ofthe signal is
developed.but that's just me ;-) I would never campaign because you are more
skillfill than me, so I want youin a different category. RegardsMikeDick, I
don't think they ought to ban 2BSIQ or SO2R. Just make it a separate classlike
SOA. All the guys that are the elite operators do 2BSIQ anyway so theywill be
still competing against each other. There will still be a lot ofvery good
operators that would compete in a single-operator category whojust don't want
to mess with a SO2R setup. Remember the days when you had todecide what band to
be on to maximize your score? That's all gone out thewindow with SO2R. It would
be nice to introduce some operating strategy backinto contesting. I wish CQ
would expand on the Classic category and take away the timelimitation but keep
it one radio. It would also be nice if ARRL would addthis category to their
contests as well. Jeff Mike, Coreen & CoreyKeswick Ridge, NB
