Comments:

This was another last-minute ad-HOC OK DX RTTY contest running from W7AYT's
QTH in Concord. On Friday evening and Saturday morning I ran the Yaesu FT-2000
remotely from my office in Alameda. Being a RTTY contest, technically I DiD
NoT
need receive audio in Alameda; especially when running a frequency, I just
lined
the station up between the "GoaL PosTs". When I finally arrived in
Concord,
I was able to knob-twiddle the radio for real for the last 80 minutes of the
contest GiG.
Antenna-wise, an 8JK Cobra dipole configuration got me on the low bands.
As it turns out, the 3-el 10-meter Long John yagi tunes nicely as a rotatable
dipole on 15 & 20 meters. Because of the CME activity, the only really
high
band was 15-meters.
I would love it if this contest even could be extended to 30, 40 or even 48
hours of opp-time - something that will prolly never happen.
