Thanks for the fun contest! Mostly a station checkout and casual effort with new
antenna and recent QTH change. Was hoping to pick up more new DX entities than I
did, but got a few new ones. Was hoping for a bigger DX opening. Surprised at
how many US states were unheard here. The band closed almost immediately at the
start of contest Friday and quickly Saturday evening. Many comments of "big
signal" and "very good audio," so I am pleased with my setup and
need to "run" more and S&P less (old habits die hard.) A few
operators really need to turn the mic gain and processing down several clicks,
as they may be loud but are mostly unintelligible, which is self-defeating.
More, distorted, is not better.
Heil PR-781 mic directly into FTdx101D with internal EQ adjusted and light
processing. Older AL-82 amp. Cushcraft A4S (3-ele) at 55ft. Looking forward to
the next one!
