Yes, assisted for a change !
That was great fun ! I have only done assisted once before, and that was before
skimmers, the RBN and the internet. Only spots then were from the a small
network of packet clusters that were linked together on 30 meters.
Operating assisted, there are almost no dull moments. I always hated the last 3
hours of major DX contests operating unassisted, because the strategy was to
crawl JA's on one radio, while looking for the needle in the haystack of
unworked mutipliers and QSO's on the other radio. I would just keep wishing the
contest was over. With assisted, I had a great time the last few hours as new
multipliers kept popping up, and there were always unworked stations to pounce
on. I let out a cheer when working 3B8M on 80 at 2357Z !
Conditions to JA and SE Asia were outstanding on all bands, all weekend.
Unfortunately, conditions were terrible to Europe on Day 1, and didn't really
improve until the sun came up on Sunday morning.
