wOw! What a WILD November Sweepstakes GiG for 2023.
Along with putting in two multi-hour shifts at NX6T, I was able
to put WQ6X in the remote operator's chair from the Ramona QTH.
With the former Tower #2 from NX6T's old Fallbrook QTH now a
semi-permanent fixture at KN6NBT's Ramona location, running QRP
into a 55' high 3-EL Stepp-IR and 2-EL Shorty-40 (plus Inverted
Vee for 80) has become a no-brainer.
People were surprised by my reporting in from SDG and NoT EB
section as I usually do. However, I received 150+ "THANK YOU"'s
from stations who only needed SDG for their sweep.
When I told operators I was running QRP, they were usually incredulous.
For me, the two operating surprises came when I received calls from
VE9HF who called in on 28347 at 19:28z and later, when the illusive VY0ERC
called in on 14221 at 23:54z. Unfortunately, some of the E. Canadians were
also illusive, as were KP4, SFL and UTAH - HuH?
