Comments:

My 25th year participating in this one, and a personal best!

Two weeks ago the 432 side of my 22 year-old TS-2000 failed, not
a good sign. And in reviewing the last few VHF contests where I
have entered "analog only," I have been bored. So I decided to
"join the dark side" and go all mode. Even with a few pauses
for thunderstorms and time off for the US Open women's final,
I luckily was active during a couple of good openings on 6. The
opening after dinner on Sunday was especially welcomed.

I often listened on the hour and half-hour for PH & CW stations,
but heard no CW and few new SSB participants. I also saw no
FT4 the few times I checked. I ended up with 6 PH Qs and 129 DIG.

I'm glad I joined the dark side! As I got close to my past "best
score" Sunday night, the contest juices kept me going. It was fun!

FOLLOWUP re. the TS2000 : Given I've had Kenwoods for close
to 30 years here, and to prevent all of the potential interface
and menu confusion of mixing brands in my shack, I am buying
a used TS-2000 that is a few years younger with some hardware
upgrades and the latest firmware. It's too bad that Kenwood
has not come out with a 9700 clone.
