Comments:
Our club is going to give FT4/FT8 a go at Field Day and I wanted to get a feel
for how it might go. I must say that I have seen a vast improvement over the
years in the efficiency of the operators using this mode. In years past it was
sometimes painful, but with very few exceptions it was quite a smooth process.
FT4 is fantastic for contesting - if there are enough "fish in the
pond". The big difference between this contest and a FD Digital station
this contst gave point values to distance, so I consciously passed on some
3-pointers to chase teh double digit counters - especially VK, ZL, and JA
stations. Even logged a BY station.
If the skill of the FD operators are clsoe to the ops in this contest, digital
contacts could be a big boost to the club score.
